This is a personal gateway for PowerTalk users. It must be installed on each PowerTalk user's system that is licensed to use this gateway. This gateway will allow PowerTalk users to send and receive mail from their QuickMail accounts without having to login to QuickMail and use the QuickMail DA. Mail can be sent and read with your favorite PowerTalk mail enabled application.
If you are upgrading from a previous release of Mail*Link PT/QM, you should follow these instructions:
1. Install the software as instructed in the section "INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS".
2. After the system has rebooted, open the "PowerTalk Key Chain".
3. Open the QuickMail personal gateway in the key chain. The installation procedures change the file-id that PowerTalk uses to locate the Mail*Link PT/QM file. Opening and closing the QuickMail Service configuration window will cause the new file-id to be written into the PowerTalk configuration file.
4. Close the key chain. You will be told that you must reboot the system before PowerTalk will activate the gateway.
The following new functionality has been added in PT/QM 1.0.3:
PowerTalk:
--PT/QM can now be temporarily deactivated while remaining loaded in the system by choosing "I'm At" in the Special menu and unchecking the QuickMail Service mail connection.
-- When the gateway is reactivated via the "I'm At" command in the Special menu, it executes a connect session immediately.
Addresses:
-- The gateway now removes carriage-returns from the address block if it encounters one there rather than rejecting the address.
Gateway key files:
-- AppleTalk registration of the gateway's Key ID has been modified to stay registered across system restarts and to recognize duplicate keys found on the same system (which can be a normal situation during initialization).
-- The gateway will now check the System Folder for a key file and if found, will move it to the required location in the spool folder.
The following anomalies have been fixed in PT/QM 1.0.3:
CSAM:
-- The PT/QM CSAM now puts limits on the length of each item returned. If the item is longer than the limit, it is truncated to the limit.
-- The CSAM has been modified to function properly on international systems.
PMSAM:
-- If the gateway encounters an error while downloading messages from the QuickMail server, it passes over the message causing the error and moves on to download the next message, rather than stopping the download process.
-- Mail messages downloaded from QuickMail will now be stamped with their QuickMail "Date Sent" time.
-- The gateway will now quit after each connect time if the interval between connect times is greater than 5 minutes.
-- The Mail*Link Log file is put in the Trash on startup if it is larger than 30K. Because the gateway quits after each connect time, this can cause the Log file to be placed in the Trash repeatedly if the connect interval is greater than 5 minutes.
-- Messages that were never sent because of a "bad recipient" are now to the sender with the bad recipients marked.
-- The QuickMail Address Template will now work properly if the MailCenter/Zone is the active edit field.
Import QM Address Books:
-- The application no longer requires the presence of the QM Groups folder on the local Macintosh.
QuickMessenger:
-- The latest version of QuickMessenger fixes a previous problem that occurred when downloading addresses longer than 31 characters.
QuickMail AOCE:
--An earlier problem that caused large forms to fail has been fixed.
Please be advised that once you have installed a personal gateway such as Mail*Link QM for PowerTalk in the PowerTalk Key Chain, if you subsequently remove the gateway from the Key Chain, any mail in your In Tray that has been downloaded by the gateway will be deleted. So, you should copy the contents of your In Tray to a folder before removing a personal gateway from the PowerTalk Key Chain. If you remove PT/QM and inadvertently delete messages from your In Tray, see the appropriate section in the "Solving Problems" chapter of the PT/QM User Guide.
